Season

As the 2012 season nears we all anticipate a great year of fishing and look forward to seeing everyone again.

This year I secured a Halibut permit for May. So, I will be guiding combo trips for King Salmon and Halibut out of Deep Creek and Anchor Point.

Last year the King fishing really improved and so far this winter King fishing has been fantastic in the salt. Hopefully this is a sign of a turnaround in our ocean survival on King Salmon.

In June, I will head back to the Kenai for early run kings. In the early season we are very flexible offering clients a variety of different fisheries. Rainbow Trout season and Russian River Sockeye Salmon will be running in full-force by the middle of the month which many clients enjoy.

July of course will be super busy with Kings and lower river Sockeyes. Last year was a record run for daily counts and clients caught fish till their arms fell off!! We also will have The “Fish Magnet” in Seward for the Ling Cod, Yellow Eye and Sea Bass fisherman. Halibut trips will be available all summer out of Anchor Point and Homer.

In August the river will be full of Pink Salmon. Pinks only return on even years so if you have some young ones ready to fish, this is the year! The Wiley Silvers will be mixed in with these large schools of pinks so great fun is had when silver erupts into the air.

Silvers will continue to run into October with the peak of the second run hitting the river third week of September. Once the pinks spawn and clear out, the Rainbow fishing will be fantastic.

No matter what, we will have a great time fishing in 2012 .Hopefully you will be able to join us.
