Catch and Release

The Kenai has the largest King Salmon in the world. With having the biggest and the best it gets lots of attention.

At Fish Magnet we try to maintain genetic integrity of the fishery by doing our part to release large fish when possible. All the guides take part of the Release a Hog Program.

This program pays the angler $800 towards a replica mount if that angler releases their “trophy king” that measures over 50 inches. Amazingly most anglers that catch a fish that large seem to be hot and often catch another smaller fish for table fare. Unlike a trophy moose or elk that may pass on their genes several times before being harvested, a big king only returns once to spawn.

We all love the Kenai and the excitement it provides by having the largest King Salmon in the world. We try to do our part by releasing large fish when possible so it can continue to produce the biggest and baddest King Salmon for generations to come.
